UH System at Sugar Land | George Building | Academic Information Students Attending Classes at UHSSL | University System Centers
UH System at Sugar Land is a teaching center that offers junior and senior level courses from the University of Houston, UH-Clear Lake, UH-Downtown, and UH-Victoria. Students attending classes at UHSSL are students of one of these four universities. This university is the student's home university.
The advantage of a university system center is that resources from multiple universities can be leveraged so they can serve students in multiple academic programs. The disadvantage is that the policies, procedures and fees for these programs vary, based on each individual university.
Application and Admissions
All institutions have their own application process for admission. Students seeking a degree in Sugar Land must meet the requirements of their home institution and must also pay the application fee required by their home institution. Students pay bills according to the payment policy of their home institution and receive refunds based on the home institution's refund schedule.
Registration
Once the departments have developed their course partnering agreements and have scheduled their courses for delivery at Sugar Land, the registrars will list all the courses pertaining to the institution's degrees in the semester schedule. This will enable students to register with their home campus for all of the courses they need to take.
Student Policies
Students must abide by the student policies of their home campuses. Student handbooks are available online so that students can understand the policies by which they are governed. In some cases, classes are composed of students who follow policies of different institutions.
