The QUEST Program
The QUEST program is organized into three distinct phases.
- QUEST 1 is learner-focused, with the goal of introducing teacher candidates to the teaching profession, to the development of children, and to urban learners, schools, and communities.
- QUEST 2 is a rigorous, content-focused semester where teacher candidates are immersed in authentic classroom contexts as they become proficient in content, pedagogy, and technology knowledge in all areas for which they will be certified.
- QUEST 3, typically known as student teaching, is performance-focused, immersing candidates in the real work of teachers in urban school settings.
Unique Features of QUEST
- School-based experiences provide challenging and diverse teaching environments.
- Community involvement develops deeper understanding of civic responsibility, community leadership, and family interactions.
- Professional attributes of teacher candidates are tracked during all the three phases of QUEST.
