About the UH SystemThe UH System comprises four universities (University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake, University of Houston-Downtown, and University of Houston-Victoria), two multi-institution teaching center (UH System at Sugar Land and UH System at Cinco Ranch), a system wide distance education "virtual university" (Distance Education / CampusNet), and a Public Broadcasting Servicve television station (KUHT-TV) University of Houston — The largest and only doctoral-degree granting university in the UH System, UH has competitive undergraduate admissions, a wide array of professional and degree programs, and a national research agenda. It is the most diverse metropolitan research university in the nation. University of Houston-Clear Lake — A graduate and upper-level institution serving a professional, adult student population in the Houston-Galveston area near NASA’s Johnson Space Center, UHCL has developed an expertise in community partnerships, and its research projects address an array of social issues including drug dependence, environmental pollution, and rural nursing care. University of Houston-Downtown — A four-year undergraduate university located in the city’s central business district beginning expansion into graduate programs. Its research programs give undergraduate students a rare opportunity for hands-on experience. University of Houston-Victoria — A graduate and upper-level institution providing the only baccalaureate and master’s level programs in a 16-county region in the Texas Coastal Bend. UHV is dedicated to supporting the region’s various technological, petrochemical, health and human services, educational, commercial, and small business sectors. |
