Home DepartmentCLASS Dean's Office, Modern and Classical Languages (MCL), Army and Air Force ROTC Key FacultyDean, MCL Department Chair, ROTC Commanders Program DescriptionThe proposed center would focus on language acquisition and immersion for the purposes of promoting homeland security, the foreign policy of the United States, and national defense. Languages would include Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Japanese, Chinese, Hindi, Vietnamese, and Russian. The program could be specialized as an ROTC-program based on the Army ROTC Nurse Officer Program model. Priorities AddressedHomeland Security, Foreign Policy, National Defense Background and QualificationsMCL has faculty experts teaching in all language areas. Houston is an international and multicultural city with large local expatriate populations that facilitate recruitment of instructors and students. This proposal is for an entirely new center including a clinical instructional faculty, administration, and labs. Overseas programs can be funded by current university fees. |
