MINUTES OF THE MEETING
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON SYSTEM
SPECIAL CALLED BOARD OF REGENTS MEETING

November 5, 2007

The University of Houston System Board of Regents convened in the Conrad N. Hilton Ballroom, Hilton University of Houston Hotel, 4800 Calhoun, Houston, Texas on Monday, November 5, 2007. Noting the presence of a quorum, Chairman Wilson called the meeting to order at 8:53 a.m.

Pursuant to Subchapter D of Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, which allows governing boards to meet in closed session, the Board of Regents moved to the Shamrock Room 261A and went into Executive Session at 8:55 a.m.

EXECUTIVE SESSION REPORT

Chairman Wilson reconvened the Board meeting in the Conrad N. Hilton Ballroom at 8:59 a.m. and stated there was no action taken as a result of Executive Session.

At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wilson introduced the only item on the agenda, the Appointment of Dr. Renu Khator as Chancellor of the University of Houston System/President of the University of Houston. Chairman Wilson then turned the meeting over to Regent Leroy Hermes who made a motion to nominate Dr. Renu Khator as the New Chancellor of the University of Houston System and President of the University of Houston. Regent Rose seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

Each regent presented remarks and welcomed Dr. Khator to the university. They all agreed Dr. Khator is the person to lead this university to the next level of excellence. At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Wilson introduced and welcomed Dr. Renu Khator, as the newly appointed Chancellor of the University of Houston System and the President of the University of Houston. Regent Wilson thanked everyone for their presence and stated a reception will immediately follow the Board meeting. Dr. Khator was delighted to meet and greet those in attendance.

There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting adjourned at 9:10 a.m.

All documentation submitted to the Board in support of the foregoing action items, including but not limited to “Passed” agenda items and supporting documentation presented to the Board, is incorporated herein and made a part of these minutes for all purposes; however, this does not constitute a waiver of any privileges contained herein.
