Carroll Robertson Ray was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents in 2008 by Governor Rick Perry and will serve through August 31, 2011. For fiscal year 2010, she currently serves as chair of the Academic and Student Success Committee, vice chair of the Endowment Management Committee, and vice chair of the Finance and Administration Committee. Mrs. Ray is an attorney with Andrews & Kurth LLP.
A native Houstonian, she was named a Texas Rising Star in Texas Monthly magazine in 2004 and 2006. She is a member and former officer of the Junior League of Houston and was the first woman to serve as chairman of the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She currently serves as secretary of the Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts and as a board member of the Houston Ballet, Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Neuhaus Center and the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin.
Mrs. Ray graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center where she was an editor of the Law Review and member of the Order of Coif. She graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in History.
