Mica McCutchen Mosbacher was appointed to the UH System Board of Regents in 2008 by Governor Rick Perry and will serve through August 31, 2013. For fiscal year 2010, she currently serves as a member of the Academic and Student Success Committee and as a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee.
Mrs. Mosbacher is a civic leader and former award winning journalist. She has won many prestigious writing awards including two Press Club of Houston awards for feature writing.
Mrs. Mosbacher has a history of community engagement and has chaired numerous fundraising events for many organizations including Houston Ballet, Best Friends Foundation, American Hospital of Paris Foundation, Woodrow Wilson Foundation, Museum of Fine Arts, and the Contemporary Arts Museum. She and her husband Bob served as chairs for the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Birthday Celebration Honoring former President George H.W. Bush 41 @ 80. She has also chaired galas for Houston Area Women’s Center, World War II Museum, and Texas Association Against Sexual Assault. Additionally she has been active in political fundraising. Awarded the 2003 American Hospital of Paris Foundation Board Medal by Ambassador Howard Leach at a ceremony at the American Embassy in Paris, Mosbacher remains active on the board and helps facilitate relationships with other hospitals. She was also named the 2007 Philanthropist of the Year by the Texas Association for Texas Assault for her fundraising and advocacy efforts. She was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve as Chair of the 2007 Inaugural committee. She is active in historic preservation and was awarded the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance Good Brick Award for restoration and preservation of her home. Mrs. Mosbacher currently serves as a trustee of Houston Ballet and serves on the National Council of Best Friends and Best Men. She is a former member of the Board of Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School and the Junior League of Houston. While at Hollins University she completed an internship with KPRC-TV Houston and majored in communications at the University of Texas. She resides in Houston with her husband, the former Secretary of Commerce Robert Mosbacher and has one son, Cameron Duncan III. 3/2009 |
