University of Houston - Downtown With dedicated faculty, small classes, and convenient class schedules, UH-Downtown is the second largest of the four universities in the UH System. The dynamic campus is located in downtown Houston, easily accessed from all major freeways, with exits within a few blocks of campus. At UHD, the emphasis is on excellence in teaching and student success.
Nationally recognized for its outstanding academics, UHD offers excellent educational opportunities through a wide variety of degree programs in three colleges: Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Sciences and Technology. In addition to bachelor’s degrees, UHD offers two master’s programs: the M.S. in criminal justice, and the M.A. in teaching. Flexible schedules and class options — such as online, interactive television and videotape — make degrees available to students throughout the metro area. UHD participates in partnerships with the UH System at Cinco Ranch and UH System at Sugar Land, in addition to classes offered at The University Center in The Woodlands, Galveston College, and San Jacinto College North. Weekend and evening classes put a degree within reach for students with full-time jobs. UHD prepares individuals to thrive in the multicultural workplace of the 21st century through interaction with its student population, which is diverse in every sense of the word — ethnicity, age, financial background, and life situation. UHD’s "vertical campus" is multi-storied, offering all classes under one roof. The adjacent Jesse H. Jones Student Life Center includes gymnasiums and fitness facilities. UHD is served by major Metro bus lines, with nearby parking for students who drive. Shuttle buses serve the largest of the lots.
