University of Houston System at Sugar Land The UH System at Sugar Land brings the resources of the four UH System universities close to home. More than 35 degrees are available in Sugar Land through a partnership of the Houston Community College System, Wharton County Junior College, and the four UH System universities – University of Houston, UH-Clear Lake, UH-Downtown and UH-Victoria. Through this collaborative effort, all of the course work for accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees is available in Sugar Land. The universities also partner with Houston Community College System, Wharton County Junior College, and other junior colleges in the metropolitan area.
The community colleges offer freshman and sophomore courses, while the UH System universities offer junior, senior, and graduate courses. The majority of the courses are taught in traditional classrooms by university faculty. In addition, the facility uses modern delivery methods, such as instructional TV on-site, videotape, online and broadcast. In 2002, UH System at Sugar Land moved to a new and larger facility, made possible through the vision and generosity of the City of Sugar Land, the George Foundation, and the Texas Department of Transportation. The new facility for UH System at Sugar Land is located on U.S. 59, north of the Brazos River.
